YINCHUAN (China), Sept 12 (Bernama) -- Halal Industry Development Corp
Sdn Bhd (HDC) expected to achieve sales of RM10 million in China's Ningxia
province, said its assistant manager, Nurazlin Kamarudin. Nurazlin said although Ningxia's purchasing power was considered low
compared with Beijing and Shanghai, she was confident of the potential because
Malaysia's halal standards were recognised globally. She said this to Bernama at the 2012 China (Ningxia) International
Investment and Trade Fair & the 3rd China-Arab States Economic and Trade
Forum which started Wednesday until Sept 16. "Seven Malaysian companies are participating in the trade
fair," she said. Earlier, vice chairman of Ningxia Autonomous Region and forum vice
chairman, Li Rui, said the forum and trade fair attracted some 7,489 local and
foreign enterprises, including 3,000 domestic and overseas exhibitors,
purchasers and investors. The annual event is jointly sponsored by China's Ministry of Commerce,
China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the government of
Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Ningxia has a Muslim population of 2.29 million and accounts for 35.8
per cent of the total 6.39 million population in the province. -- BERNAMA
