YB. Dato' Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry will lead a Trade and Investment Mission to Bangkok, Thailand from 22-23 February 2012 and to Myanmar from 23-24 February 2012.
He will also be representing Malaysia at the 18th ASEAN Economic Ministers' Retreat which will be held from 25-26 February 2012 in Nay Pyi Daw, Myanmar.
The Trade and Investment Mission to Thailand and Myanmar aims to strengthen Malaysia's trade, investment and economic cooperation with these two countries. Apart from that, the mission will also attempt to identify business collaboration opportunities in sectors such as the construction industry, infrastructure development, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, oil and gas.
The Minister will be accompanied by 40 senior government officials and private sector representatives.
At the 18 th AEM Retreat, the ASEAN Economic Ministers are expected to review progress made in the implementation of measures to realise the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) by 2015. The average implementation rate of the AEC Blueprint measures for the first (2008-2009) and second (2010-2011) phases is 75.6 per cent.
