Malaysia Confident Electrical and Electronic 2.0 Can Achieve Target

KUALA LUMPUR, March 28 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian government is confident that the Electrical and Electronic (E&E) 2.0 is well poised to achieve its target, Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said.

He emphasised that the government's focus on the 2020 target as originally outlined in 2010 would be maintained, which is to achieve RM53.4 billion in Gross National Income (GNI) and to create 157,000 jobs in the sector.

"To give impetus to E&E 2.0, the government has identified five new projects or entry point projects (EPPs) to support the industry.

"Among the EPPs are systems for solar photovoltaic industry, embedded systems industry, electric vehicle component manufacturing and the nanotechnology industry," he said at the media conference here Thursday.

The E&E 2.0 (previously E&E 1.0), is the second phase of the electrical and electronics industry's modernisation programme, under the Economic Transformation Programme (ETP).
