KOTA BAHARU, Feb 28: The youths in this country should change their mindsets and be bold in taking up challenges and grabbing the opportunities made available for them in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), which will commence at year’s end.
International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the initiatives under the AEC were inclusive for all sizes of business, regardless of age and were aimed at creating a stable and resilient economy.
“Youths have the advantage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) literacy skill to be more competitive,” he said at the AEC dialogue in conjunction with the ASEAN Economic Ministers’ Retreat in Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) city campus, Kota Baharu, Friday.
Also present were UMK vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Mortaza Mohamed and SME Corporation Malaysia (SMECorp) chief operating officer Isham Ishak.
Meanwhile, Mustapa said 100 students from various public and private universities in the country were selected to undergo MyASEAN Internship Programme conducted by 12 national companies operating in six ASEAN countries since Jan 25.
