PUTRAJAYA, Jan 21 (Bernama) — YAB Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak, Prime Minister of Malaysia will be leading the Malaysian delegation to the Annual Meeting of the WEF which will be held in Davos, Switzerland from 21 until 24 January 2015.YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by YABhg. Datin Sri Rosmah Mansor; YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry; YB Senator Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Department and senior officials from the various Ministries and agencies. The high-level delegation will also include the participation of Malaysia’s corporate leaders.
YAB Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in several sessions including a meeting of the ASEAN Regional Business Council (ARBC) themed “Shaping a Bold and Forward Looking Future for ASEAN in the New Global Context” where he is invited to deliver a speech as the special guest. The Prime Minister will also be attending the Informal Gathering of the World Economic Leaders’ (IGWEL) Opening Lunch, with the theme “Defining the Imperatives for 2015”.
YAB Prime Minister will also take part in the ASEAN Leaders’ Session, where the leaders of ASEAN members will share their vision of ASEAN on regional integration in the global economic context followed by a Channel News Asia (CNA) TV Debate to discuss the efforts and challenges in realizing Malaysia’s vision of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
On the sidelines of the Annual Meeting, YAB Prime Minister is expected to hold bilateral talks with several world leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest. The Prime Minister will also host a Malaysian Night to promote business opportunities in Malaysia and showcase Malaysia as a destination where business meets hospitality. With the theme “Doing Business, Building Friendships”, the Malaysian Night is expected to serve as a networking opportunity between the Malaysian delegation and the international business community, international organisations as well as the NGOs.
The Annual Meeting of the WEF is a forum which brings together influential leaders from the realm of politics, business and civil society to discuss a wide-range of global issues. With ‘The New Global Context’ as the theme for this year’s Annual Meeting, the leaders will develop the insights, ideas and partnerships necessary to respond to the complex interdependence of today’s world and its profound impact on political, economic, social and, above all, technological transformations.
