The Malaysian Minister of International Trade and Industry Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed stated today that Malaysia, in partnership with the Islamic Development Bank Group, will organize a Malaysia-IDB Group Investment Forum 2012 during the period from 9-11 May 2012 in Kuala Lumpur. Speaking to a press gathering at the IDB group Regional Office, the Minister said that the Investment Forum will provide investors and entrepreneurs from IDB member countries a platform to meet and explore cross-border business prospects and partnerships. ASEAN Working Group on Halal Food

With large population of Muslims, ASEAN as a region has realized the importance and urgency to pursue cooperation on Halal Food. As part of efforts to intensify coordination and for ASEAN to have common position on Halal Food in the international fora, the “ASEAN General Guidelines in the Preparation and Handling of Halal Food” together with “ASEAN Halal Logo” were published with objective to provide a practical guidelines for the food industry on the preparation and handling of Halal food and to serve as a basic requirement for accreditation of food processing establishments for intra-ASEAN trade in Halal food. Both guidelines and logo were adopted by the 20th Meeting of ASEAN Ministers of Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) on 17-18 September 1998 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam. The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) together with Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC) and East Coast Economic Region Development Corridor (ECERDC) is organizing a Trade and Investment Mission to Songkhla from 30-31 October 2012 in Songkhla, Thailand.  
The Mission led by YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed, Minister of International Trade and Industry include 90 Malaysia companies mainly SMEs.  The companies are involved producing Halal ingredients, food and beverages as well as Halal related logistics and services sectors. The main purpose of the Mission is to enhance and strengthen collaboration between Malaysia-Thailand in the promotion and development of Halal products and services. It is also intended to attract Thai companies to invest in the manufacture of Halal products in   Malaysia, especially in the ECERDC region. TOKYO 3 Julai - Populariti Malaysia sebagai hab halal mula mendapat suntikan baharu berikutan minat syarikat-syarikat Jepun menggunakan syarikat dari negara ini (Malaysia) sebagai platform untuk mengeksport produk-produk halal ke negara-negara Islam. Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed berkata, kekuatan rangkaian Malaysia dengan negara-negara Islam khasnya dari Asia Barat merupakan faktor utama menyumbang kepada minat tersebut. ”Syarikat-syarikat Jepun mengeksport produk halal khasnya dalam bidang makanan halal, farmaseutikal dan kosmetik setelah mereka mendapatkan pengiktirafan sijil halal dari Malaysia,” katanya. Reach out to Aseanhalal market, says minister

JASIN: Malaysian entrepreneurs should grab opportunities in the halal market of Asean member countries, where there are more than 200 million Muslim consumers, said Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Hamim Samuri. “The Government is providing aid to local entrepreneurs to reach out to the foreign market. “The halal hub is a good example where we had produced many entrepreneurs of halal products. “I believe this model can help us get more entrepreneurs to grab the opportunities,” he told a news conference after visiting a factory operating in the Malacca Halal Hub (MHH) in Serkam, near here, yesterday. Hamim said the hub, which is expected to generate sales of more than RM100mil a year through its entrepreneurs, could be made an example for more successful halal hubs in the country. Kuala Lumpur: Kementerian Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (MITI) optimis eksport pasaran produk halal negara akan melepasi RM32 bilion tahun ini walaupun berdepan dengan situasi kejatuhan nilai ringgit serta penurunan harga minyak mentah dunia. Ini berikutan kelemahan kedua-dua sektor berkenaan memberi kesan positif kepada peningkatan perdagangan produk halal ke pasaran asing memandangkan negara pengimport boleh membeli dengan harga murah serta meningkatkan kapasiti pengeluaran dari Malaysia. Timbalan Menterinya, Datuk Hamim Samuri berkata, ramuan halal menjadi sektor terpenting eksport itu memandangkan ketika ini Malaysia menjadi pengeksport utama dunia dan ia belum banyak diterokai oleh negara lain berbanding sektor makanan dan minuman. Malaysia: MITI Expects 2015 Halal Industry Export Surplus To grow

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 (Bernama) — The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) expects total export surplus for the halal industry this year to exceed the RM32 billion achieved in 2013. Deputy Minister Datuk Hamim Samuri said there is massive untapped growth potential the global halal industry which local Halal players should tap. “The weakening ringgit can also be a key driver to the exports as importers can buy products at lower prices,” he told reporters after the soft launch of Halal Ingredients Asia 2015 here today. MEF to feature successful entrepreneurs

KUALA LUMPUR: The International Trade and Industry Ministry is organising the Malaysia Entrepreneurship Forum 2015 (MEF) for local entrepreneurs seeking to grow their businesses. To be held at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention Centre on Thursday, the forum is aimed at providing information about government efforts to help entrepreneurs go global. It will also feature successful entrepreneurs such as Cliff Ink Sdn Bhd’s Michelle Lau Sook Yee and Habibul Ajmi Manggar from Perniagaan Orang Kampung Sdn Bhd, who will share their experiences. MIHAS 2015 Hadirkan Produk Bersertifikat Halal dari 20 Negara

“Selama lebih dari satu dekade, MIHAS menjadi program unggulan Malaysia untuk promosi internasional dari industri halal. Faktanya MIHAS sudah menghasilkan penjualan bernilai lebih dari $3 milyar,” ucap Mustapa Mohamed, Menteri Perdagangan Internasional dan Industri Malaysia (MITI), pada upacara pembukaan WHS (01/04). Bertempat di Exhibition Halls 1-6, Ground Floor, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, MIHAS 2015 berlangsung dari 1-4 April. MIHAS tahun ini berisi 590 booth dari berbagai negara. Sekitar 60 persen peserta pameran berasal dari Malaysia dan 40 persen bisnis internasional dari 20 negara.
