UMW Launches First Locally Assembled Toyota Camry Hybrid

SHAH ALAM, March 23 (Bernama) — UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd, assembler and distributor of Toyota vehicles in Malaysia, today launched the new locally-assembled Toyota Camry Hybrid, aiming to produce some 7,000 units of the variant this year. UMW Toyota Motor Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin said the Toyota Camry Hybrid CKD (completely knocked-down), the first hybrid car to be assembled at Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB) here, shows the company’s determination and commitment to produce cars that meet customers’ expectations. “The group expects to roll out some 7,000 units of the all-new Toyota Camry over the next nine months. “Between 2010 and 2015, UMW Toyota has so far invested close to RM180 million for the Toyota Camry CKD project,” he said at the launch by International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed at ASSB here Monday. Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Sha­pers Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (Shapers Malaysia), Datuk Mohd. Shukri Abdullah (gambar) berkata, forum tersebut akan menjadi platform tepat bagi membincangkan isu-isu halal sekali gus membangkitkan kesedaran masyarakat dunia tentang pentingnya mendapatkan poduk yang halal. RM28mil grant for two firms

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said the funding was to help the companies purchase equipment and to expand their operations. Speaking at a briefing after visiting QAV and AMD plants in Bayan Lepas, he said QAV received RM18.5mil, with AMD getting the remainder. QAV Technologies provides testing and certification services to light-emitting diodes (LED) and solid state lighting (SSL) producers while AMD is a global leader in manufacturing micro-processors. Mustapa said local SSL and LED companies had contributed significantly to the growth of the electrical and electronics sector. “As of December 2014, 10 local LED companies have achieved significant increase in combined sales, amounting to RM88.7mil. Twenty-six products have been certified internationally, with market access to 13 countries,” he said. Pengarah Urusannya, Datuk Mohd Radzif Mohd Yunus berkata, usahawan layak memohon pinjaman sebanyak RM500,000 dan maksimum sehingga RM2.5 juta. “Pelancaran WEP akan membolehkan wanita yang bergiat dalam perusahaan kecil dan sederhana menggunakannya untuk membeli aset dan penambahan modal kerja tetap,” katanya dalam sidang media selepas majlis perasmian ulang tahun ke-10 SME Bank di Kuala Lumpur, semalam. Majlis tersebut dirasmikan Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. MIHAS 2015 Hadirkan Produk Bersertifikat Halal dari 20 Negara

“Selama lebih dari satu dekade, MIHAS menjadi program unggulan Malaysia untuk promosi internasional dari industri halal. Faktanya MIHAS sudah menghasilkan penjualan bernilai lebih dari $3 milyar,” ucap Mustapa Mohamed, Menteri Perdagangan Internasional dan Industri Malaysia (MITI), pada upacara pembukaan WHS (01/04). Bertempat di Exhibition Halls 1-6, Ground Floor, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, MIHAS 2015 berlangsung dari 1-4 April. MIHAS tahun ini berisi 590 booth dari berbagai negara. Sekitar 60 persen peserta pameran berasal dari Malaysia dan 40 persen bisnis internasional dari 20 negara. Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Moroko, Bangladesh, Tunisia, dan Turki termasuk negara yang berpartisipasi dalam MIHAS 2015. KUALA LUMPUR, 7 April (Bernama) — Syarikat Jerman mengharapkan Komuniti Ekonomi ASEAN (AEC) 2015 sebagai visi ekonomi serantau yang bersepadu apabila ia terus meninjau peluang pelaburan di sini. Duta Jerman ke Malaysia Holger Michael berkata syarikat Jerman menunjukkan minat yang semakin meningkat di ASEAN secara umumnya, dan Malaysia khususnya sejak ia mengambil alih jawatan pengerusi ASEAN pada tahun ini. 130 Syarikat Beroperasi Di Taman Industri Halal

KUALA LUMPUR: Sebanyak 130 syarikat telah beroperasi di taman industri halal setakat ini dengan jumlah pelaburan mencecah RM8.5 bilion, kata Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (Miti) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed. Beliau berkata, taman industri halal itu telah mewujudkan lebih 5,000 peluang pekerjaan kepada anak tempatan dalam pelbagai industri antaranya pemprosesan makanan, kosmetik, ramuan, farmaseutikal dan ternakan. “Terdapat 21 taman industri halal seluruh negara di mana 19 daripadanya berada di bawah seliaan agensi kerajaan pusat serta kerajaan negeri manakala dua lagi adalah milik swasta,” katanya di dalam jawapan bertulis kepada Su Keong Siong (DAP-Ipoh Timur). KOTA BHARU 7 April – Karnival Pendidikan Tinggi Negara, Jom Masuk IPT (KPTN 2015) bagi zon Kelantan berjaya mencapai sasaran apabila lebih 80,000 pengunjung hadir pada program yang berlangsung pada 28 dan 29 Mac lalu. Melaka ketujuh tertinggi terima pelaburan diluluskan

MELAKA 8 April – Melaka melonjak ke kedudukan ketujuh tertinggi ba­gi jumlah pelaburan diluluskan dalam sektor pembuatan pada tahun lalu berbanding ke-10 pada 2013. Menteri Perdagangan Antara­bangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Mus­tapa Mohamed berkata, se­banyak RM4.44 bilion jumlah pelaburan telah diluluskan oleh Lembaga Kemajuan Perindustrian Malaysia (MIDA) di negeri ini tahun lalu. Menurutnya, pelaburan berke­naan termasuklah dalam sektor pengangkutan (RM3.32 bilion), pro­duk elektrik dan elektronik (RM880 juta), penerbitan dan percetakan (RM160 juta), perabot dan perkakasan (RM40 juta) dan pembuatan makanan (RM40 juta). “Jumlah pelaburan berkenaan ju­ga merupakan yang tertinggi per­nah dicatatkan di negeri ini malah ia yakin dapat terus ditingkatkan pada masa akan datang,” katanya.
