MIRI, Jan 18 (Bernama) -- Healthcare service industry can diversify the attractions in Sarawak by promoting their products to foreign tourists, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Jacob Dungau Sagan said Monday.
He said they should take the opportunity from the steady flow of foreign tourists into the state which was recorded at 1.8 million between January to November last year.
Delivering the keynote address at a seminar on "Trade Liberalisation and Government's Assistance" organised by his ministry here, Sagan said the proximity of Brunei and the Indonesian region of Kalimantan gave Sarawak the advantage to promote healthcare tourism.
According to him, their focus should also include traditional healthcare services that might not be available elsewhere.
Besides attracting regional tourists like those from Brunei, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore, he said that healthcare tourism also attracted many Europeans and Americans.
