Functions

Trade Practices Section

  1. To legislate, implement and enforce policies on trade remedies in order to enhance stability and promote growth of the domestic industry.

  2. To safeguard and remedy injury caused by dumping and subsidies of the domestic industry through the use of anti-dumping and countervailing actions in accordance with related WTO Anti-Dumping and Subsidies and Countervailing Measures  Agreements, Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Act 1993 and Countervailing and Anti-Dumping Duties Regulations 1994.

  3. To safeguard the domestic industry from surge of imports through the use of safeguards action in line with WTO Agreement on Safeguard, Safeguards Act 2006 and Safeguards Regulations 2007.

  4. To advise the domestic industry in preparing the petition for initiation of anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard investigations.

  5. To advise, assist and coordinate the response of the domestic industry to anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguard investigations instituted by other countries.

  6. To formulate Malaysia’s position and participate in the multilateral negotiations with regard to trade remedies at WTO and other related international forum.
