WHAT IS APPROVED PERMIT (AP)?
Approved Permit (AP) is an Import and Export license issued by various Permit Issuance Agencies (PIAs) including Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI). All APs under the purview of MITI are enforced and issued based on Customs Act 1967 with the objectives to:
- Promote orderly development of local industries;
- Support socio-economic development agenda;
- Safeguard public safety in terms of quality, standards and environment;
- Ensure sufficient local supplies; and
- Monitor and collect data for policy formulation.
Applicants can directly apply for an Approved Permit (AP) through the ePermit system, except for APs subjected to pre-approval (Open AP, Franchise AP, and Other Vehicle AP).
