The Government announced on 13 May 2011 the appointment of an Independent Panel of International Experts to review the health and safety aspects of the proposed Lynas project in Gebeng, Pahang. The panel is expected it submit its findings and recommendations to the Government by the end of June, 2011. The report will be made public.

The work programme of the panel includes a visit to Malaysia from 29 May to 3 June, during which time the panel is expected to, among other things, receive representations from various stakeholders, including members of the public.

These public consultation sessions will take place in Kuantan and Putrajaya.

Every effort will be made to accommodate requests for representations to the panel to be made in person.

Representations to the panel can also be made in writing, and this will be the recommended method for those who may not be able to appear before the panel in person.

The preferred language for submission of representations is English. However, submissions can also be made in Bahasa Malaysia or Mandarin.

To facilitate the work of the expert panel, Malaysians and Malaysian-registered organisations who wish to make representations to the panel are asked to register themselves with the Co-ordinator, International Panel of Experts, whose contact address is as follows:
