The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) is working to get more Malaysian companies to participate in international trade fairs to boost the export of Halal products. The goal is to promote Malaysia as a producer of products which are of the highest quality, safe and fully assured in the aspect of halal integrity. The effort to boost exports is in line with the decision by the National Export Council to raise exports to help bring in added revenue for the nation to help overcome the current economic situation.
MITI's efforts are already bearing fruit. This year, MITI, in collaboration with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and SIRIM Berhad, will be organising the Export Groom Big Programme on 18 and 21 September 2015 in conjunction with the ASEAN - China Expo ( CAEXPO ) 2015 in Nanning , China.
A total of 19 companies in the Food and Beverage sector will be joining the CAEXPO 2015, which seeks to provide a platform to promote and develop new markets abroad; opportunities to expand their business network; and potential sales of products to merchants trading overseas. The involvement of local companies in the exhibition will also help to contribute in the export value of Malaysia's Halal products, which currently is valued at RM32 billion.
Among the companies which have participated in the Groom Big Programme that will be joining CAEXPO 2015 are:
Hajjah Aminah Food Industries Sdn Bhd, which was established in 2000 and has annual sales of RM 5.3 million. Its products are sold in the domestic market as well as in Singapore, Philippines, and Brunei.
Fikrisz (M) Sdn Bhd, which was formed in 2004 and generates annual sales of RM 1.5 million. Its products -- a mixture of instant coffee (Tongkat Ali Coffee Blends), Gano Kool (Ganoderma Mushroom Coffee Blends), Latte, and Instant Milk Tea - are available internationally in Dubai, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.
