Functions

1. To formulate/review policies and strategies for development of the manufacturing sector, namely:

   • Aerospace

   • Electrical, electronics and ICT

   • E-commerce

   • Shipbuilding and ship repair

   • Metal and mineral

   • Machinery and equipment

   • Chemical and petroleum products

   • Pharmaceutical and medical devices

   • Agro-based, food processing and commodity

   • Automotive

   • Lifestyle and new emerging industries

   • Remanufacturing

2. To monitor the implementation of policies and strategies for sectoral development in line with RMK-11,

3. To undertake industry consultation on issues related to sectoral policy;

4. To compile information on performance of the manufacturing industry;

5. To identify and promote new sectors and areas of growth; and

6. To evaluate the effects of multilateral, regional and bilateral arrangements, including new regulations of trading partners on industry.
