The Strategic Trade Secretariat (STS), Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), in collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Energy, will be organizing the Malaysia Strategic Trade Summit (MySTS) 2023. This event that marks a milestone for Malaysia’s continuous commitment to uphold its international Strategic Trade Management (STM) obligations, is a continuation of regional efforts to improve STM in Southeast Asia, and follows the first Strategic Trade Summit held in Singapore in September 2022.

As an open economy and a trading nation, Malaysia realises that secure trade is part and parcel of a prosperous and responsible economy that attracts quality investments, spurring economic growth and high value-added employment. While MITI is leading Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives for the manufacturing sector with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) agenda, STM through the Strategic Trade Act 2010 (STA 2010) remains integral for boosting confidence among investors, trading partners, and the international community that Malaysia is a safe and secure destination for trade and investments.

MySTS will begin with an Industry Outreach on Strategic Trade (IOST) Seminar on Monday, 23 October 2023, followed by the 2^nd Women in Strategic Trade (WiST) Forum on 24 October 2023. This event will bring forth unparalleled access to top government regulators as well as industry experts who are involved in strategic trade law, export controls, customs regulations, supply chain security, sanctions and compliance standards.

The programme presents invaluable opportunities for you to hear from senior government and industry representatives from Malaysia, the United States, European Union and the SE Asia region. Presenters including prominent women professionals from the STC field will share national and international developments in strategic trade regulations and controls as well as best practices and lessons learned.

Please check your email for the invitation. Due to limited space, we encourage STA 2010 clients to register and secure the seats as soon as you have received the invitation.
