KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 13 (Bernama) -- The government has determined that there is no dumping margin with regard to the Hot Rolled Coils (HRC) originating or exported from Korea into Malaysia.

In a statement today, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (Miti) said the decision was made as the volume of HRC imports was at a negligible level.

"The government had on June 19 last year, initiated an anti-dumping investigation based on a petition filed by Megasteel Sdn Bhd on behalf of the domestic industry producing HRC.

"Megasteel alleged that the HRC originating in or exported from China, Indonesia and Korea into Malaysia was at a price much lower than that in the domestic market of the alleged countries," it said.

Starting Feb 14 this year, Miti said the Royal Malaysian Customs will enforce the collection of anti-dumping duties and this measure will be effective for five years.

With the imposition of anti-dumping duties on imports of HRC from the alleged countries, MITI said it is expected that the issue of unfair trade practices will be addressed.
