Media Release: Imposition of Customs (Prohibition of Imports) Order on Construction Materials

1. The Government has announced that the importation of glass, radiant barrier, insulation material and fibre cement flat sheet will be subjected to Certificate of Approval (CoA) from 31 January 2014. The imposition of this requirement has been gazetted under the Customs (Prohibition for Imports) (Amendment) (No. 3) Order 2013 on 18 November 2013.

3. The imposition of CoA on these products is to ensure that imported construction materials meet established quality and safety requirements. This requirement was made in consultation with the industry.
