- Requirement
All importations of new batteries for motor vehicles must obtain an Approved Permit (AP) from MITI,
effective 1 January 2026 through ePermit application system.
Currently, the No Objection Letter (NOL) is issued without requiring a product certification license
from Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM).
- Documents Needed
- Classification Letter from Customs;
- Application Letter;
- Product Catalogue;
- Invoice;
- Technical Evaluation Report (TER)
*(Note: The TER shall comprise UN 38.3, UN R100 (four tyres) or UN R136 (two tyres),
as applicable, together with the relevant IEC Test Report)
- Processing Time
The AP will be processed within five (5) working days, excluding the date of submission, provided that all documents are complete.
