Approved Permit > Standard Operating Procedure for Battery Importation

  1. Requirement

All importations of new batteries for motor vehicles must obtain a No Objection Letter (NOL) from MITI.
This applies until the ePermit system is fully implemented.
Currently, the NOL is issued without requiring a product certification license from SIRIM.

  1. Documents Needed

Please email the following documents to apbesi@miti.gov.my:

  1. Tariff Code Confirmation Letter from the Royal Malaysian Customs Department;
  2. Application Letter stating the purpose of import;
  3. Product Catalogue;
  4. Invoice (showing quantity, brand, price, importer’s name, etc.);
  5. UN38.3 Certification; and
  6. Battery Testing Report.

 

  1. Processing Time

The NOL will be processed within five (5) working days, excluding the date of submission, if all documents are complete.
