Approved Permit > Standard Operating Procedure for Battery Importation

  1. Requirement

                All importations of new batteries for motor vehicles must obtain an Approved Permit (AP) from MITI,
                effective 1 January 2026 through ePermit application system.
                Currently, the No Objection Letter (NOL) is issued without requiring a product certification license
                from Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM)

 

  1. Documents Needed
  1. Classification Letter from Customs;
  2. Application Letter;
  3. Product Catalogue;
  4. Invoice;
  5. Technical Evaluation Report (TER)

                        *(Note: The TER shall comprise UN 38.3, UN R100 (four tyres) or UN R136 (two tyres),
                        as applicable, together with the relevant IEC Test Report)

 

  1. Processing Time

The AP will be processed within five (5) working days, excluding the date of submission, provided that all documents are complete.
