Import Types

Conditions

Normal Import

• Imported machineries must be less than 5 years from the manufacturing date.
• Import must be accompanied by Certificate of Origin

Temporary Import

• Machinery and Equipment's Imported can be aged more than 5 years calculated from Date of Manufacture
• Importion of machinery only allowed for legitimate domestic work purposes
• Machinery must be re-exported after project is completed or license expires.
• License has to be renewed every 6 months

Re-Import

• Re-importation only requires Customs original export (K2) form, AP not required.

Tower Cranes

• Brand New Crane made within one year of Date of Manufacture
• Used Tower Cranes are not allowed for importation (even temporarily)

All Heavy Machinery /Cranes  except Tower Cranes

• Must be within 5 years of Manufacturing Date

Temporary Imports of All Cranes

Importation is supported (enclosed with) by Documentation / Contract of Local Project

1. Application Letter

AP application request using companies letterhead addresed to MITI.

2. Letter of Undertaking

Companies undertaking of their responsibility to ensure all documents submitted are genuine and valid (Date of letter is 1 Month Validity).

3. Invoice

Proof of purchase from the seller.

4. Catalogue

Picture and Description of Machinery.

5. Certificate of Origin

Certificate confirming the country of machinery origin.

6. Manufacturing Certificate (New Machinery)
OR
Chassis Plate Picture and Export Certificate (Used Machinery)

Documentation that clearly states or exhibits the following:

1. Manufacturing Year of Machinery; and
2. Chassis Number

7. Non-Objection Letter / CLA from Local Crane Manufacturer (refer to import condition)

For certain machinery, CLA is required from Local Manufacturers

8. Project Contract / Documentation for temporary imports

Document or Contract of Importer providing proof that machinery is used for domestic projects/consumption

9. Heavy Machinery Electric (EV)

Please provide the following supporting documents:

1. UNR100 (Part I) ; and
2. UNR100 (Part II).

Note :

Part I focuses on general safety, including protection against electrical shock

Part II specifically addresses the safety requirements for the Rechargeable Energy Storage System (REESS)
