A Joint Industry Outreach Seminar on Strategic Trade Management was held on 23 January 2018 at the InterContinental Hotel Kuala Lumpur. The seminar, co-organised by MITI and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) Japan is part of the continuous engagement with the Government of Japan in the area of export control. The seminar is MITI’s 5th collaboration with METI in organising Joint Industry Outreach on strategic trade.
The main objective of the seminar was to promote better understanding on export control compliance and effective implementation of the Strategic Trade Act (STA) 2010. This seminar provided guidance and updates on the latest developments and initiatives by the relevant authorities in Malaysia and Japan. A total of 150 participants comprising representatives from government agencies and industry from both Malaysia and Japan attended the seminar.
Among topics addressed during the seminar include; Implementation of Intangible Technology Transfer (ITT) in Japan, Japan’s End-User list, CISTEC services and STA (Amendments) 2017. A bilateral meeting between MITI and METI was held after the seminar to exchange views on ways to further improve export control in Malaysia.
