The Strategic Trade Act (STA) (Amendments) 2017 Townhall was held on 12 February 2018 at the Royale Ballroom, Royale Chulan, Penang. A total of 80 participants from companies based in the Northern Region; and our Strategic Trade Act Committee (STAC) members attended the session. The townhall was also attended by representatives from MITI Penang, MATRADE Penang and MIDA Penang
Similar to the previous townhall held on 4 December 2017 in Kuala Lumpur, this townhall served as a platform to increase stakeholders’ knowledge on STA 2010, especially on the recent amendments and to discuss real and perceived impediments to implementation of the STA amendments. Following the last townhall session, DagangNet (DNT)’s involvement in the townhall has helped address questions on ePermit STA from the industries. Enhancement of the DNT systems was among the core discussion among the industries especially on how relevant the digital token is today. DNT and RMC participation will be continued in the next townhall session in Johor Bharu scheduled on19 March 2018
A dialogue session with the stakeholders was held after each presentation ended. The townhall session adjourned at 12.45 pm on 12 February 2018 and STS representatives continued with STA Evaluation and Company Visit on 13 February 2018.
