Kuala Lumpur, March 6th, 2013 - Minister of International Trade and Industry, YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed will meet with heads of foreign missions in Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) on March 6, 2013. This is the fourth meeting between the Ministry of Trade (MITI) and the heads of all foreign missions in Malaysia. Apart from the 99 heads of all foreign missions in Malaysia, this session will also involve the participation of 54 bilateral business councils wherein total of 420 participants are expected to attend this session.
Among the main objectives of this session are as follows;
• to forge closer relations between MITI and the diplomatic and foreign business communities in Malaysia in order to enhance trade and investment and help boost economic growth;
• to update the diplomatic corp and business communities on the trade and investment opportunities of investment and trade in Malaysia;
• to gather feedback as well as suggestions from business councils with regard to MITI and its agencies’ programmes for 2013.
During this session, YB Dato’ Sri Mustapa Mohamed will also brief the participants on the Ministry’s programmes for 2013, trade and investment opportunities in Malaysia and the ways forward for closer cooperation from all foreign missions in Malaysia and bilateral business councils to promote Malaysia as a preferable choice for trade and investment.
Also scheduled to speak are Her Excellency Vorobyeva Lyudmila Georgievna, Ambassador of the Russian Federation and Mr. Lee Hun Ki, Chief Executive Officer/ Managing Director of Lotte Chemical Titan Sdn. Bhd. from the Republic of Korea. Ambassador Georgievna will share her views on the Malaysia-Russia economic ties while Mr. Lee will relate his experiences in doing business in Malaysia.
