
YAB Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak, will be leading the Malaysian delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, from 23 to 26 January 2013.
With the congregation of over 2,500 of the world’s most powerful and influential investors, business leaders and policy makers at Davos, Malaysia is using its participation in the World Economic Forum, 2013 to build a strong case for itself as a preferred investment, trade, education and tourism destination in Asia. In light of the growing competitive environment Malaysia need to raise its profile by highlighting the success of the economic transformation programme in the country.
The World Economic Forum is one of the most important and high-profile annual business gatherings in the world. The theme for this year’s Forum is ‘Resilient Dynamism’ and global leaders will be discussing how, in an increasingly interconnected world, nations and businesses can build risk resilience and adapt to meet new social and economic demands.
As the leader of a nation that has been bucking global trends as well as undergoing a bold transformation programme, YAB Prime Minister will take the opportunity to engage with other world leaders and help shape the global agenda in 2013.
YAB Prime Minister’s programmes will include:
- Meetings with H.E. Mark Rutte, Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Mr. Pascal Lamy, Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
- A televised Session ‘The Economic Malaise and Its Perils’, where the PM will talk about global economic issues along with panellists including Ali Babacan, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic and Financial Affairs of Turkey and OlafurRagnarGrimsson, President of Iceland.
- A session on ASEAN: ‘Resilience in Diversity’. This will be alongside other ASEAN politicians, including Benigno Simeon Aquino III, President of the Philippines.
- A One-on-One Conversation with CNN’s FareedZakaria on Malaysia’s economic transformation as well as global issues including moderation.
YAB Prime Minister will also be meeting with international media and thought leaders as well as CEOs of prominent global corporations. YAB Prime Minister will be accompanied by the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation and CEO of The Performance Management and Delivery Unit. Others in the delegation include prominent Malaysian businessmen as well as heads of agencies.
YAB Prime Minister will also host the Malaysian Night, a soiree that aims to gather government leaders and corporate captains to showcase the best of Malaysian culture, business, economic potential, food and in general, the country and her people.
