YB Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir officiated the soft launch of INTRADE Malaysia 2010 on 27 April at the MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre (MECC), Kuala Lumpur.
INTRADE Malaysia, the leading general trade fair in ASEAN, is part of the Government’s effort to promote Malaysian products and services to the international business community and expand trade with FTA partners of Malaysia in the region and beyond.
Themed “One World, One Marketplace”, the exhibition, organised for the fourth consecutive year, will cater to the needs of the business community, both locally and internationally, by creating opportunity for SMEs as well as established brands and players of the industry to promote their products to buyers and visitors from the ASEAN region and beyond.
“INTRADE, since its inception, has been positioned as ASEAN’s leading general trade fair, to provide opportunities for companies, especially SMEs in the region, to showcase and promote a wide range of products and services from Malaysia and this region to the international market,” said YB Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir, in his speech at the soft launch of the INTRADE Malaysia 2010.
YB Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir further remarked that many countries reported positive indicators of economic growth. The business sector must then gear up to take advantage of the opportunities arising, both within and beyond Malaysia’s borders. This is where INTRADE Malaysia 2010 fits ideally into business and marketing plans to expand international business.
He added that INTRADE Malaysia 2010 will also provide an avenue for the business and trading sectors to leverage on the Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) that Malaysia and ASEAN member countries have signed with countries in the region.
“The FTAs provide the impetus for the creation of strong business and trade networks within this region and opportunities for companies to tap into these fast growing markets,” he said.
“Asia, as we know, will lead the next phase of global growth, and Malaysia offers a gateway to this dynamic growth in the region, through INTRADE Malaysia 2010,” YB Dato’ Mukhriz Tun Mahathir added.
