KUALA LUMPUR, 26 Mac - Malaysia amat yakin perdagangan dua halanya dengan India akan mencecah AS$15 bilion (RM46.5 bilion) tahun ini, dirangsang oleh pertumbuhan ekonomi yang kukuh dicatatkan oleh kedua-dua negara.
Ketua Setiausaha Kementerian Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Dr. Rebecca Fatima Sta Maria berkata, Malaysia dan India sentiasa berusaha keras untuk merancakkan perdagangan dan perkhidmatan dua hala.
Tahun lepas, perdagangan dua hala Malaysia-India berjumlah AS$13.3 bilion (RM41.2 bilion).
“Dengan pemeteraian Perjanjian Kerjasama Komprehensif Malaysia-India (CECA), pertumbuhan perdagangan dan pelaburan antara kedua-dua negara berjalan lancar.
“Penglibatan yang semakin giat antara sektor-sektor persendirian kedua-dua negara turut menyumbang secara signifikan kepada perdagangan dan pelaburan itu,” kata beliau kepada pemberita di luar acara Persidangan Majlis Perniagaan Malaysia-India (MIBC) 2013.

MISI pelaburan dan perdagangan Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed ke Bangladesh dan India selama enam hari bermula hari ini, bakal mengukuhkan lagi hubungan erat antara Malaysia, Bangladesh dan India.
Misi kali ini tertumpu kepada sektor-sektor atau peluang-peluang baharu yang boleh diterokai oleh pelabur Malaysia di negara terbabit, selain usaha menarik khususnya syarikat-syarikat India melabur atau menanam modal di Malaysia.
Bagi Malaysia, India dengan penduduk seramai 1.22 bilion orang pada tahun 2013, dan Keluaran Dalam Negara Kasar (GDP) sebanyak AS$1.758 trilion (RM6.261 trilion) serta perkapita AS$4,000 (RM14,246), merupakan rakan dagang yang penting. Sejak tahun 1998, India merupakan pasaran eksport terbesar negara di rantau Asia Selatan.
India juga merupakan rakan dagangan ke-10 terbesar Malaysia, destinasi eksport ke-10 terbesar dan sumber import ke-12 terbesar.

NEW DELHI, Jan 14 (Bernama) — Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed is leading a three-day trade and investment mission to India starting on Wednesday and is scheduled to participate at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit 2015.
The minister is set to have several business meetings with potential investors from India as well as Malaysian businesses that already have an establishment here.
Mustapa will deliver a special address at a seminar entitled “India-Malaysia Trade and Economic Cooperation in the Context of Indian Economy Dynamism and India’s Act East Policy” in New Delhi organised by Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS).
RIS is a think-tank under India’s Ministry of External Affairs envisioned as a forum for fostering effective policy dialogue and capacity-building among developing countries on international economic issues.

NEW DELHI, Jan 15 (Bernama) — India, which has generated a lot of excitement with its steadfast stand in attracting investments and rejuvenating its economy, can be the next engine of growth for the region and the world, said Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
“India went through a difficult period in terms of growth and inflation, but now there has been a lot of hype on what is happening in the country and it has generated a lot of excitement.

NEW DELHI, Jan 16 (Bernama) — Malaysia is hopeful that negotiations for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) can be concluded by year-end, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said.
“It is a crucial year for Malaysia as we hold the chairmanship of Asean in 2015 and our target is to conclude the RCEP negotiations,” he said.
However, there are challenges in achieving it as it involved 16 countries, he said.
“Having said that, we recognise there are challenges. Even bilateral negotiations sometimes take time to conclude and here we are negotiating with 16 countries of different level of economy development,” he said during a press conference here on Thursday.
RCEP is a proposed free trade agreement (FTA), which involves 10-member countries of Asean and six other nations namely Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea and New Zealand.

JAIPUR (Rajasthan), Jan 16 (Bernama) — International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed met Indian Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and discussed the strong bilateral ties between the two nations.
Among others, India requested Malaysia, which is the current chair of Asean, to take up a more proactive role in the negotiations for the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) trade pact.
Mustapa said Malaysia considered the conclusion of the RCEP negotiations as one of the deliverables during Putrajaya’s chairmanship of the 10-member grouping.
There are ample political will to conclude the negotiations, he said during the 15-minutes meeting held on the sidelines of the Confederation of Indian Industry Partnership Summit 2015 here today.

AIPUR (Rajasthan), Jan 16 (Bernama) — The northern Indian state of Rajasthan has an ambitious plan to build a 20,000 km road network and wants Malaysian firms to participate in the projects.
The plan, to be executed through public-private partnership (PPP) mode, was announced during the state’s 2014-15 Budget. The first phase of 29 packages will comprise of 8,910 km or 132 highways.
“We are really keen to have the investments from Malaysia,” Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje said during her bilateral meeting with Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed on the sidelines of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Partnership Summit 2015 here today.
