KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 2 (Bernama) — The concerns of the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be taken into account once the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) is implemented.SME Corp Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Hafsah Hashim, said the TPP, now being negotiated by 12 countries, will take the Malaysian SMEs on board first. “There is a chapter on SMEs whereby the negotiators will talk about capacity-building programmes to be built into into it (agreement) to ensure SMEs of participating countries will be ready when TPP comes into effect,” she said. KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Ogos (Bernama) — Malaysia tidak akan terikat dengan sebarang tempoh masa yang ditetapkan berkaitan dengan Perjanjian Perkongsian Trans-Pasifik (TPPA). Pada satu mesyuarat khas yang diadakan Khamis, Kabinet mengambil pendirian ini kerana sejumlah besar isu, termasuk perusahaan milik negeri (SOE) atau syarikat berkaitan kerajaan, buruh dan Hak Harta Intelektual (IPR), masih belum diselesaikan. The TPP Ministerial Meeting was held in Brunei from 22-23 August 2013. The aim of the Ministerial meeting was to take stock of the progress made in the negotiations and provide clear guidance to negotiators. The meeting was attended by all the 12 TPP Minister or representatives.

This meeting was significant as to provide the avenue for Ministers to discuss the way forward on all the outstanding issues. Ministers are expected to table a progress report to the TPP Leaders when they congregate in Bali, Indonesia for the APEC Leaders Summit, 7-8 October 2013.
